Hi Pauline, Even when the daughter married life wasn't any better. She took in washing and charged a penny to do a basketful, then tuppence to iron it. There were 8 kids to bring up too. It is hard to imagine. Apparently she also gave birth to a set of male triplets (uncommon back then) who didn't survive and a set of twins (probably miscarried.) No wonder she died at the young age of 45.
