Hoping to jog a few memories! Just discovered that the Irish musical part of my family frequently made the journey from Ireland to perform in Birmingham and surrounding area's during the 1950's. Does anyone remember the Slieve Foy Showband/Danceband playing? I'm interested in where they would have stayed. I do know that their Pool/Griffin family/ancestors lived in and around Birmingham at that time but as they were such a large family I've yet to make contact with many of them. The grandmother of Slieve Foy Annie Louise Pool/Linehan died aged 42 yrs. Birmingham in 1914 living 18 Wood Street Ladywood Birmingham. Annie's nephew W Griffin was present at her death. Annie's husband John Linehan (Travelling Showman) did not register her death, wondering where he was or if they were still together. Do any of the above names ring any bells?: Kindest regards Jackie.
