Many thanks to all who assisted us in our search for the elusive Abraham. Two really good pointers came - Barb Stacey - the Abraham D you identified had the wrong father. But we were really excited at first. Then from Marlene Shipton another sighting but this one was too old and also wrong father. Finally from Graham Dixon (I really thought we had hit the jackpot when it read the name!) So many possibles I am answering that separately. So we are still searching. We think he could possibly be Irish. The only reason we say this is that he did not appear on the radar until 1871 and he married into an Irish family - slim clues I know but when you are clutching at straws! My mother used to say "your granddads family came from Ireland" she also used to say they were gypsies and used to sell pegs. I thought she meant my fathers side of the family but in researching my fathers side revealed only true blue brits. So I think now she meant her side of the family Anyway thanks everyone and if you do come across a Abraham Dixon in your searches please keep us in mind. Jan Ward
