Hi Jane I've had look at the fathers professions as you suggest. Not too helpful! The three likely candidates are: Ladywood, Canden St, father is Thomas a japanner (Thos jnr is 12) St Mary, Aston St, father is Robert a cheesemonger (Thos jnr is 12) St Thomas, Inge St, no father, mother is Hannah a shoe binder, (Thos jnr is 13) My Thomas was a labourer in 1851 then a file striker and blacksmith's striker. The only access to information I have at the moment is FreeCEN but I believe it has full coverage of the 1841 census in Warwicks. In each census 1851 through to 1891 he is consistent with his age (33, 43, 53 etc) and Birmingham as his birth place which makes me favour Inge St. I'm still fairly new to this and would appreciate your opinion. Thank you for responding so quickly. Regards, Graham __________________________________________________________ Not happy with your email address?. hmmmmm well, when he was listed as 13 in 1841 it would have been his mother's word. It's possible he & Selina were not married. I've checked lists for 1848 - 1851 under her surname & found nothing. Do you have her age? How do you know her maiden name? Is it possible she married before? It's very frustrating isn't it? Don't give up, sometimes bits of info come to light after years & when you've given up on that particular 'brick wall'. I'm always happy to help so let me know if there's anything else.
