Kia Ora Victoria Suggest you double check the Death Cert - was it typed or a printout? I always ask for printouts so that you get the most likely accurate version. Someone may have confused husband James instead of Thomas father! Is the place of birth compatible with census info in 1861 & 1871? Check 1851 by inserting LUCY 1835 +/- 3years Birmingham and Aston . In other words NO surname and 2 possible birthplaces. If that fails try Lucinda or Luc* Barttlett? Bartlet? Did the family settle in Chch? The Chch library has a wonderful store of info, photos, Wills etc .
