    3. Hi, I have relatives with the surname of McGeary, sometimes spelt, McGary, McGarry, McGory and numerous variations. It is a name of Irish origin and most irish imigrants could not read or write and as the mother was mostly the informant at the registrars office (and the census numerator) with a broad Irish accent, anything close was written down. Perhaps you could research the varients of McGorrery, I wish you the best of luck.
