    3. Hi Lesley, I looked for the church on the link you gave me and along with Chris' information I see that it was The Church of the Oratory. I noticed you lve in Edgbaston Birmingham... My Smiths probably lived in Edgbaston Birmingham if the church was there . How far away would that be from Aston Manor? Thank you so much for answering my email. 3. Hi Candy Did I forget to include the link? Oops http://www.search.digital-ladywood.org.uk/engine/search/default_hndlr.asp The Church of the Redeemer and the Oratory (it is called the Birmingham Oratory, not the Church of the Oratory)are two different churches . The Church of the Redeemer was a Baptist church (demolished in the 1970s) and the Oratory is a Catholic Church. The distance between them was only about 150 yards, so you need to be sure which one you need. Aston Manor is on the other side of the City, but it is about 4 miles away from Edgbaston. People living in Aston Manor wouldn't normally use either of those churches as there are equivalent ones on their side of the City. If the marriage took place in Edgbaston, then one of the parties would be living in this area of the City Hope this helps Lesley -----Original Message----- From: eng-warks-birmingham-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:eng-warks-birmingham-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Candy Thoutsis Sent: 30 August 2009 17:11 To: eng-warks-birmingham@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [B'ham] Smith Hi Lesley, I looked for the church on the link you gave me and along with Chris' information I see that it was The Church of the Oratory. 3. The Church of the Redeemer was rebuilt and is still in Hagley Road but further up. They have some most interesting historical records there on their premises. When I was searching for the Arnold Roots I spent a very interesting but unsuccessful time. I was looking in the wrong place. I should have been seeking the Acocks Green Congregational records that I have so far failed to locate!! Any suggestions would be very welcome.
