I need some assistance deciphering information found on the 1911 Census. 1) William ANDREWS (my GGF) and his daughter, Mary Frances MEREDITH were living in Aston, Warwickshire at No. 5 Chapel House St.? Diritesne?? What is the actual name of the area? I'm sure "Diritesne" is not correct. Also, both were "school caretakers". Would anyone know what school they might have been working at? 2) Another daughter, Elizabeth MUTLOW, was living with her family at 48 Haybury? Rd., King's Heath, Birmingham. Again, could someone please clarify the street name? Thank you for any assistance. Sincerely, Kay Andrews Pittsburgh, PA USA
I agree, Dave Carr Thanks Lesley, I've done that now. Passing it on. Hi, Jan go to NSW State Records and do a name search. Should be successful. OR to to National ARchives, England and do the same. OR just do a google search for his name....e.g. Henry Baldwin, 'Barrington', NSW or Henry Barrington, NSW Or go to Ancestry Com and do a search in electoral rolls. See how you go with State Records NSW first. Robyn, Toowoomba. Oz. Hello List I am running a family history workshop with a U3A group in Australia and one of the participants has a convict ancestor from Warwick who was transported here as a convict with the third fleet in 1791. His name was Henry Baldwin, he was transported on the BARRINGTON and we believe he was tried at the Warwick Assizes and sentenced to 7 years in NSW. My question is can anyone tell me if there are any online resources for researching the historic court records in Warwick and can anyone suggest any other resources for gathering further information about this man. I would be very grateful for any suggestions Thanks in advance Jan

Thank you David, It's wonderful to see photos of the church my gggGrandparents were married in in 1810. The minister was Robert James Spencer of whom I have learned much on this website. Two of my ggGrandfather's brothers were also married there. You were most helpful in the past sending me photos of the buildings were these folks lived, Doug. -- Doug Hawkes e-mail: dhawkes@ee.ryerson.ca > Photos and some MIs now published at > http://brummages.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html > Also memorial plaques re WW1, nearly all names readable. PREECE, HARRIET. According to census returns, she was born in Ohio, USA in about 1858 to Henry & Mary Ann Preece (n. Warwick) of Birmingham (?) England. Harriet married Henry James in 1877 in Birmingham and had 7 children there. I have been unable to get any further information on Harriet’s birth. Any help would be appreciated ________________________________________________________________________ AOL Email goes Mobile! You can now read your AOL Emails whilst on the move. My very Irish Boyles crossed the ditch and lived & worked in Ayrshire before emigrating to New Zealand where they too wore the kilt. Apparently Boyles went to Ireland from Scotland a century before (1700s) because of their stonemasonry skills. I think our ancestors travelled more widely than we appreciate! ----- Original Message ----- From: <JJupar@aol.com> > How close are Erdington and Handsworth to Selly Oak. Hi Judy Erdington is in the NE inner suburbs of Birmingham and is approx 7 miles from Selly Oak which is in the SW inner suburbs. Handsworth (quite a big area) is about 4 miles West(ish) of Erdington and is maybe 4 miles N of Selly Oak. I also searched for Woodbrooke House and Quakers and found the Woodbrooke Quaker Study Centre. This is 3 miles south of Selly Oak. Whether the Centre has relocated south or always been at this location I have no idea. Google Earth or Multimap will give you more info Hope this helps -- David
