    3. Gerry Indeed there was the Main Plant of Cadbury's located near Selly Oak, in fact at Bournville, just down the road. Many of the residents of Selly Oak listed in 1901 Census worked for Cadbury's. a " Google" for Cadbury's , gives more detail about the operation and its History. http://www.cadbury.co.uk/EN/CTB2003/sitemap.htm NB: The Road in Selly Oak you give is actually HEELEY Road , my Great Grand Aunt was living in No 27 in 1901 !!! 3. Hello Roger: Thanks for the reply. Yes MOSS was their maiden name. Ruth was 16 years old and Annis or Annie was 20. They lived at 24 Heeley Road. Their father Stephen Moss was a Domestic Gardner. 3. the Cadbury factory was at Cadbury! If you search Cadbury World you'll find details. I don't think the site has changed. The workers generally lived in the purpose built village. 3. Hello Wendy I joined findmypast.com when they were 1837online, and it cost me just £25 because it was on offer. Since then the censuses have come along (an extra £10), although they don't have the 1851 and the 1871 is incomplete and no 1901. I seem to remember they had a special offer on not so long ago, again half price. I personally use it mainly for the GRO, as it saves me going into Birmingham which is not at all cheap these days with parking costs being increased, and I find it rather useful. I hope this is of some use! 1. [B'ham] GOODES, NIBLETT, TANNER, TROWMAN, NELSON?
    2. Hi listers - Happy New Year to you all! I'm now opening new lines of research around my great uncles and aunts in Birmingham and Smethwick. My grandfather was John Howard GOODES b 1888 d 1942. His surviving siblings were: GOODES - NIBLETT Frederick Goodes b 1904 m Lydia Niblett b 1905, in Birmingham in 1927. They had 5 children: Marlene Ida, Joyce, Lydia, Freddie, and Bobby who died age 1 in 1948. I would really like to trace this family forwards and backwards if I could: I grew up with these lovely people and it's a shame we have all lost touch over the years. Lydia senior died in September 1985: Fred in October 1986, while Marlene died in January 1986. GOODES - TANNER Mary Jane Goodes b 1891 m Alfred Tanner in Aston in 1915. GOODES - TROWMAN Florence Goodes b 1889 m Henry Trowman in Aston in 1917. Her mother, Mary Ann Goodes nee TUCKLEY died at her house in 1948 age 82 - 318 Albert Road, Aston. GOODES - NELSON William Lea Goodes b 1898, married I think Rose Evelyn Nelson. The surviving family has mentioned Uncle Bill, but not his wife. While I'm here, we have a picture with a caption written on the back of "Harold and Vera Goodes", who look as if they should be related to us, but of whom we have no other information! Hoping that someone out there has some connection to any of these. -- Chris Pampling researching: BARRATT, DANCER, FELLOWS, GOODES, HOLDING, ROBINSON, TUCKLEY, WHEWAY, MAHER all in and around Birmingham/Smethwick, 1850 to present day PAMPLING Cambridgeshire - Sheffield, 1800 to present VARNDELL Wokingham - Birmingham, 1800 to present

    2. Helen Rolph
    3. Hello, Does anyone have these names in their family tree research? William James SCRANNAGE and Nellie FOSTER. They were witnesses at the marriage of my Great Uncle, John ALLEN to Julia JONES on 6th June 1903 at The Register Office, Birmingham also Cyril Robert SHERVINGTON and Edith May NORRIS. They were witnesses at the marriage of my Great Aunt, Nellie ALLEN to Victor Herbert HAWKINS on 9th August 1941 at St Paul's Church, Bordesley Green. At the moment I can find no connection between any of the witnesses and the ALLEN family except that William SCRANNAGE had a similar occupation to Julia JONES' father, Charles. John and Nellie were two of nine children and I wonder why none of their siblings were witnesses. any help or suggestions most welcome.
