Thanks everyone for the info posted it is being a great help. Helen, the only dates I have are for Frederick he was born in 1904 and died 29/09/1962 I have nothing for Lilly. P.S. bitterly cold in Mid Wales. Doug 1868 I think hits the right mark, thanks. Can anyone point me in the right direction to find POW's in Italian camps, for servicemen captured at Tobruk? Once again many thanks Malcolm
The area is known today as Bordesley Green, and it is no longer under Aston - it is just Birmingham 9. Aston was huge area, which now has been separated into about seven districts. Sorry, I suspect that this is not the right George. There was a George Mills born in Adderley Road, Saltley, on 5 Aug 1868 to Joseph and Ann, but this George (I think) was buried on 11 Mar 1869 age 5 months. The same parents baptised another George (born 5 Jan 1872), but this George (again, I think) was also buried, on 6 Jun 1873 aged 18 months. This information from the registers of St Saviour's, Saltley. On 23/01/07, Douglas Hawkes <dhawkes@ee.ryerson.ca> wrote: > > Hi Malcolm, > > George turned out to be older than I thought. Hi There where several Ann(e)'s baptised around 1777 in Birmingham, the problem is that it does not always give the date of birth on the entries so they could be baptised any time from birth to adulthood. I have Ann BROOKES baptised in St. Martin's the Bull Ring (1 Jan 1773 to 31 Dec 1779) 14 Feb 1775 Anne daughter of Jonathon & Mary BROOKES, 24 Mar 1778 Ann daughter of Samuel & Eleanor BROOKE Could not see the records at St. Mary's Whittall Street as they were in the workshop at that time. St. Philip's (1 Jan 1773 to 31 Dec 1782) 21 Sept 1774 Ann daughter of John & Elizabeth BROOKES 26 Aug 1776 Ann daughter of Thomas & Elizabeth BROOKES 11 Feb 1777 Ann you have. And that is all that I found. It is purely luck if in later documentation ( marriage certs and so on) you may find the Father listed or a brother or sister as witness. All I can do is wish you good luck in your research. James Neil Hearn <neil.hearn3@bigpond.com> wrote: Thanks, James, the record may relate to "my" Ann Brookes who married Simon Onions in 1794. Hi, I am seeking members of the BRADDOCK family, one of whom was living at 126 Selby Park Road, Birmingham in 1951. She was Frances M Braddock, spinster Living with her was her cousin, Agnes Alice REYNOLDS (my grand aunt), also spinster It is probable that the home in Selly Park Road was owned by Agnes and her cousin, Frances, nursed her until Agnes' death in May 1955 at the age of 95 I am very interested in hearing from anyone who might have any information on either of these ladies, particularly on Frances and her ancestors, thanks
Thanks, James, the record may relate to "my" Ann Brookes who married Simon Onions in 1794. Hello again Malcolm This site may be of interest to you. There has been a lot of work done to commemorate the civilians of Birmingham killed in WW2. Hi Douglas, I have always assumed that Mary died before 1861 as James is listed as a widower in the Census. Whilst checking through my research I found the search I did at St Philip's for my James and found this which was of no use to me at the time, baptism 11 FEb 1777 Ann daughter of Charles and Sarah BROOKES. Hope this helps. James Douglas Hawkes <dhawkes@ee.ryerson.ca> wrote: Hi James, Was Mary alive when James died? If so, have you looked at this certificate?
