He originally came from Coventry lived in Carr's Lane, Hospital St. and had a family consisting of several sons - one being Thomas, who was transported to NSW in 1828; another was Henry who was a pearl worker in Summer Lane. There were at least two daughters - an Ann and Catherine. His wife was also Ann. Gwenda Stanbridge [email protected]

It is over 50 years since I lived in that area and memory is a little hazy. The only other C of E church I can recall was St Paul's on Moseley Road. The RC Church was in George Street and I think was St John's. There was also a Methodist Church on Moseley Road quite near to St Paul's. None of these churches exist now. When I attended St Thomas in the Moor it was in Birmingham but I do not know if it was ever classed as being in King's Norton. This maybe of some help, my mother's birth registration in 1912 was classed as King's Norton and although not baptized at St Thomas in the Moor was born and lived close to the church. My birth registration in 1940 was Birmingham, I was born in the same house as my mother. The church referred to as St Thomas's on Familysearch site was in Ladywood. Hope this is of a little help. I am looking for some local knowledge please. I know St. Thomas-in-the-Moor was in Balsall Heath but what other churches may have been used by people living there? When did St. Thomas in the Moor move from Worcestershire to Warwickshire? Was it always classed as being in Birmingham or was it classed as being in Kings Norton and if so when did it move to Birmingham? Is the church referred to as St. Thomas on Family Search St. Thomas in the moors? Many thanks, Chris

I just put the house number as part of the street address. Sometimes it works, but I think it depends on just where you are searching. Sometimes it works better than other times. I play around with it a little. I'll try it if you like. Hello Listers I was born in Cooksey Road, Small Heath, in 1943. I know the house was demolished probably during the 60's. I visited the house several times during my early childhood but cannot remember any thing about it. Can anyone please help with information on Cooksey Road? Gill
I have one off-the-wall suggestion. That is, if you try www.googleearth.com , putting in your house number, you may be able to access the area and the lot where the house was located. I did that with my grandmother's home in Holyoke, MA, (US) and have printed out a really nice picture of the house itself, not just the neighborhood. Anything is worth trying, I think.
