Hello everyone, I am so excited I had to share my luck with you all. In a moment of brick wall mania I decided to post a request on the Lancs list for a marriage at St. Chad's that I have not previously found as it was in 1813 - after the 1812 cut off for most published books of registers, and it was not on the IGI. I knew the groom and the bride's first name. (Betty, of course, what else in Walsden!!) A lovely person came up with the marriage on the BVRI 2, and guess what, the bride's name is Schofield. I have double checked the details in J.T.'s Walsden Families in Olden Times, chapter on Schofields. I am pleased to say it all checks out, and J.T. has given a lot of information on the family, including some ages at marriage and death. I have checked all this in the Tod. Parish registers and now have my direct line grandparents back a further 3 generations complete with some excellent anecdotes and scope for further investigation and reading. So now I can add Schofield to my list of surnames in Tod. and Walsden. If anyone has any data on Schofields of Calf Lee, Knowltop and Bottomley I would appreciate a nudge. Linda
