Hello, I've traced my people back to a Robert Crossley, a silk spinner (this may be the wrong fabric!) from Southowram near Halifax, who married a Mary Marsland. I think the date of birth must have been between 1825 and 1830. They had a son called John Crossley (1853 - 1915), my great-grandfather. His son, James (1875 - 1946) moved to Rastrick, Brighouse. Talking to Crossley "cousins" in Canada and Australia, I am told that there were Crossleys and, before the 16th century, Crossleighs, in Todmorden in the 1300s. This would appear to be the beginning of a long line . . . Does anyone know of a Crossley or Crossleigh connection in Todmorden? All thoughts would be most welcome. My direct e-mail address is as follows: peter-crossley@wanadoo.fr Looking forward to hearing from you. Most sincerely
