    1. [ENG-TOD] INFO~ Inaugural Meeting
    2. Mrs Julie Goucher
    3. Posted with the permission of the List Admin. Last week I wrote, that at the end of January 2002 the Anglo-Italian list was created as a discussion forum for those who are researching their Anglo-Italian Ancestry. (Anglo-Italian-L-request@rootsweb.com) and that through discussion on the list, it has become apparent that there is no formal Society available to researchers, and thus researching Anglo-Italian Ancestry can be rather isolating. It was felt that the long term aims would be to: 1. Form a Anglo-Italian Family History Society 2. To develop a web page for links and other useful bits of information. Both of these are to run along side the Anglo-Italian Mailing List and it is intended that this will be open to all those researching in this area, and it is hoped that those without Internet Access will also benefit. Over the last few days Elaine Collins and I have discussed having a meeting, and as a result Elaine has agreed to coordinate such an event. The date of the Inaugural Meeting of the Anglo-Italian Family History Society has been arranged. For further details please see the Web Page http://www.dreamwater.net/anglersrest/Italian.htm Please support this worthwhile project. 1. [ENG-TOD] SHACKLETON

    3. My 3 x gt.grandfather, Henry SHACKLETON, b.circa 1788 in Todmorden, m. Barbara HARGRAVE in Quebec while in the army, 15-3-1815, d. 15-2-1874 and is buried in Walsden Churchyard in " his brother Robert's grave with his wife." Can someone tell me whose wife, Henry's or Robert's? Any facts about Barara HARGRAVE or Robert SHACKLETON would be helpful. Henry SHACKLETON spent much of his life in the RA, abroad or in Woolwich. Can someone tell me when he returned to the Walsden area? When he died he was living with his niece, Ann WOOD, nee SHACKLETON ,at 36 Hollins Mount, Walsden.
