    1. [SRY] Transportation of AUSTIN , CONWAY & SULLIVAN ( 1838 )
    2. From The Morning Post ( London, England ), Thursday, October 25, 1838; Issue 21157.  SURREY SESSIONS.  - WEDNESDAY, OCT. 24. ( Before Mr. HEDGER and a Bench of Magistrates.)Henry AUSTIN , John CONWAY , and John SULLIVAN were indicted for stealing a waistcoat, the property of Joseph TURNER , a shopkeeper at Newington. The only remarkable circumstances attending the case were, that the three prisoners were, without exception, as bad characters as any that frequented the south side of the water. The charge having been satisfactorily proved against all of them, and a verdict of Guilty pronounced, The Chairman asked if the prisoners were known before ?Three policemen stated that each of them had been tried before for felony, but escaped a severe punishment and were only imprisoned for a short time.  With regard to SULLIVAN , it was stated that he had been tried twice at the Central Criminal Court, for highway robbery and for cutting and maiming. The Chairman said that the leniency extended to the prisoners had not the slightest effect in reclaiming them, and the sentence of the Court was that they be transported for Seven Years each.
