A site mapping *every* bomb dropped on London has just been put online. I haven't had a really good look but it's quite amazing and totally fascinating. The image in the link below shows the whole of London completely hidden under red pins. A closer looks shows it wasn't quite so, not by a long way. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-20637222 Another article: www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2243951/The-astonishing-interactive-map-EVERY-bomb-dropped-London-Blitz.html or if that breaks: http://preview.tinyurl.com/c3squ9h And the site itself: http://bombsight.org/#15/51.5050/-0.0900 You may get 404 or 503 errors on any of those. If you do, have a look again later. The sites are very busy as you might expect. -- Charani (UK) OPC for Walton, Ashcott, Shapwick, Greinton and Clutton, SOM http://wsom-opc.org.uk
A very interesting plot of the bombing. However it does not include the V1 and V2 munitions which is a bit of a shame. I could see the bomb that nearly got my father and his gang on the railway at Hampton Court Junction. The V1 that landed between Dennis and Pemberton Roads is not shown. John
It`s a wonder there were any buildings left standing after such a concentrated attack. As an Australian, it`s hard to grasp what it must have been like during the blitz with all those bombs falling. Amazing stuff. It really demonstrates the resilience of people under such a concentrated attack, and the vileness of war.
