I have spent a considerable number of years trying to trace my gggrandmother ANN SAY nee BATCHELOR born circa 1804 Henfield Sussex. I have evidence of her upto and including the 1871 census ( previous census information has regularly misspelt the name variously FAY LAY GAY PAY etc) and then she disappears. I have checked every available record (other than the last known Register Office covering Lambeth - tried once and met a blank wall of officialdom. My research has been over a very long period and I am aware that a limited number of records were missed or lost at the local level. I have no evidence that ANN SAY remarried - I have checked that under her maiden name of BATCHELOR and her married name of SAY. I have tried a number of burial grounds without any success - visiting in the local area is difficult since I am based in South Shropshire and dont get down to London overly regularly. Any thoughts amongst contributors would be most welcome. I fully understand why noone has ever taken a GOONS study on board even with my slightly unusual name. Kind regards Mike Say
