Hi I have just discovered from a newspaper report of the Court of Insolvent Debtors, 13 September 1839, Sarah BRIGDEN, formerly of Crawley, Sussex, as a prisoner in the County Gaol for Surrey, Horsemonger Lane. She was ordered to be 'brought up before the Court and Court House in Portugal Street, Lincolns Inn Fields on Twenty-second day of November next at the hour of Ten in the morning precisely'. I'm not sure how to find out more about the result of this court appearance and what happened subsequently to Sarah. Can anyone help? I have found a Sarah BRIGDEN, of possibly the correct age in the 1841 census residing at 'Barrack Field', Croydon. I'm wondering if this was in fact a workhouse? Many thanks for any help with this Sheena
