    3. Rummins, I see you have had some replies to your message. I would like to add that during Victorian times, Urban Dairies abounded. There are several examples of former dairies in London - the buildings converted into shops and residential. Do check the Imagesof England pages under English Heritage for details on former dairy buildings, now listed. Also, check out this website link: - http://www.sustainweb.org/jelliedeel/articles/358/ One or more cows were kept by individuals to supply milk sold to neighbours etc. Mayhew's book "London Labour and London Poor" is well worth referring to.
