Hi Shirley Looking at the 1841, 1851 & 1861 census pages mentioned I would say they are all the same family I was going to say the age difference given in 1841 is due to rounding down in the 1841 but he is enumerated as 47, it should have been rounded down to 45 if he gave 47 but clearly the enumerator did not follow the guidelines (as did many enumerators) Unfortunately for us travellers had a habit of either leading officialdom astray by being very economic with the truth, if indeed they said anything, which perhaps explains the differences in information given I can't recall if you have Thomas's wifes maiden name? If not Abrahams birth cert would tell you that England & Wales, FreeBMD Birth Index, 1837-1915 about Abraham Benson Name: Abraham Benson Date of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec 1843 Registration district: Hambledon Inferred County: Surrey Volume: 4 Page: 173 As long as you can tie solidly back to the 1861 Thomas BENSON I would say you have a solid base there Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 09/01/2013 21:06, Samuel Phillips wrote: > Nivard, thank you so much for your replies.
