    2. Hi all, shall I set up a group called 'GREATER_LONON' and say it includes those parts of adjacent counties which have historically been seen as parts of Greater London. But would also say that there are other lists for the counties of Kent and Surrey as a whole. Particularly I could state what boroughs are/are not included. Giving it the name of Greater London does not preclude adding in other parts of neighbouring counties as time goes by I have lived in the South East of England for the majority of my life, much of that time in London and never more than 1 hr distance from Tower Bridge. So I know a little bit about the subject! There was once the Greater London Council (GLC) which governed 'Greater London' and included those parts of the six neighbouring counties that 'appeared' to be in London. This was done for political reasons as the 'experts' at the time deemed that the middle of London was 'socialist' and the 'suburbs' i.e. the county portions, were 'conservative' and there needed to be a balance, the most blatant example of gerrymandering in modern history. > So, do we merge London with 6 other counties just because Kent and > Surrey have the largest chunks in London or do we ignore the other 4. > It’s a given that Middlesex is London. 3. I think it would be a good idea as well. The boundaries have changed over the years and researchers do get confused as to where they should be looking.
