Many thanks to Anne, Nivard & Hilary for all your suggestions, as a result of which I have now seen a plan of the site which clearly shows that all 4 houses are of similar size. I have to agree that they are far too grand to have been used just for 4 servants. I now have some more avenues to explore, Thanks again Robin.
