What's the point in having yet another online index (FreeBMD & Ancestry are there already) if the actual registers aren't going to be available online ? hi Anne, It'll be their own index, hopefully more accurate, and presumably you'll be able to order direct form it like happens with many local Council online BMD indexes. I'm looking forward to it happening :-) le durachd Fionnghal
When the DOVE digitisation project of the BMD index was originally started the GRO planned to include 1. Mother's Maiden Name on Births from 1837 - at present on indexes from Sep qtr 1911 2. Age at death on Deaths from 1837 - at present on indexes from Mar qtr 1866 3. both parties to Marriage on Marriages from 1837 - at present on indexes from Mar qtr 1912 Currently this information isn't available on the earlier indexes, therefore if it is included on the new indexes it will make searching for entries a lot easier.
