I've now lost track of who made the original comment that the cemetery records were lost in fire, but if it was a cemetery, as opposed to a churchyard there may be a second set of registers somewhere. I am currently helping to transcribe burial records and one set is kept at the local crematorium and another at the town hall. The borough archivist might know if this is the case here.
