Hilary, I must - just have to! - thank you for that site for with it - or through it - have discovered the Festival of Britain site which is terrific indeed for me bringing back great memories just before leaving home for national service... I also remember what the area was like before South Bank was created: to cross Hungerford Bridge was to pass through a really messy broken down area so the government of the day did a wonderful job.
