After 10 years of searching I am still looking to find the marriage of my grand parents. He was Charles Taylor b. 1872 in Horley. She was Ellen Plested b.1876 in Shabbington Bucks. There is no entry in the GRO. The marriage would have been about 1899/1900. Their first child, William, was born Jan 1901. I have searched Shabbington, Horley, Charlwood & Reigate PRs. Hello Liz Try looking at least 10 years after you think they were married. Like you I searched for years and then one day by mistake I didn't fill in the date on the Free BDM form and up they popped 9 years after the birth of my G Grandmother. I don't know why, but like today perhaps they were saving up for a posh wedding but as they married 10 miles from their home perhaps there was some other reason.
