I too, spent several years in Streatham. I lived with my parents in "The High", in the late 1040's, before moving to Norbury. The high was a very modern block of flats on the main London-Brighton Road, which are still there today. Many celebrities lived there. I came across several wonderful sites for Streatham history. A History of Suburban Streatham - this has wonderful photos. and Streatham Society The Streatham Society were extremely helpful when I wrote to them, asking for more information concerning "the High".
