I first found the family in 1841, then used the name of son Richard with father Edward and mother Esther to find them on 1851. The one I sent seemed the only one to fit, so I hoped it was the right one. By the way, and only to clarify, the 1841 census confirms only that a person was born in the county where he/was living at the time, Yes/No. One can never infer that the person was born in the parish or even town where they were living at the time of the census. The distinction between "London" and "Middlesex" as separate counties is often blurred by people, both then and now! The other abbreviations are for born outside the country, S = Scotland, I = Ireland, F = Foreign. Rarely does this last include more details. JK On Sun, Dec 13, 2009 at 1:01 AM, Susan J. Hello Lawrence Have you tried for a Death Certificate for this Edward and Esther Cook. I was looking thru the 1871 Census on Ancestry but none seemed to fit so he may have died before the 1871, actually they both may have died. Well I'm off to church. I just wanted to send my thanks early.
