Hello to All, I have a postcard photograph of a child marked RICHARD VICTOR WHITTINGTON 5 months old, the postmark date is 22 may 1907, and is addressed to 42 Hill Rise Richmond. The local studies librarian of Richmond tells me that the occupants of this address in 1908 were George and Frances Bates, Frances being my grandfather's sister (Frances Mary Whittington). The only birth record I can find is for RICHARD WHITTINGTON born 23rd Nov. 1906 and registered 4 Jan 1907, this birth date would Make the child 5 months old at the time of the post card, but the child's parents Henry (Haddock Smoker) and Edith Whittington (formerly Howard) are not known to me, nor can I find a marriage record for this couple. I also have a copy of this child's death certificate 20th Dec 1908, this time the parents are listed as Henry (Fish Curer) and E. Whittington. My objective is to establish if the child on the photograph RICHARD VICTOR WHITTINGTON and the child on the certificates RICHARD WHITTINGTON are one and the same.I have been in touch with the Evelina Hospital where the child died regarding any records they may have and they referred me to the London Metropolitan Archives , but the only way I can check their records is to visit their premises , a bit far to go from here, Western Australia. I have sent an email to the Southwark Council asking for a list of possible cemeteries where the child may have been buried, but so far no answer. Does any body have a list of cemeteries in the Southwark district that I could contact for possible records?? The address of Henry Whittington (fish curer) at the time of at the time of the birth and death certificates was 35 Morecambe street Southwark, and he was still there at the time of the 1911 census, although no family shown, the census also gives his length of marriage as 27 Yrs, which would be 1883-4 , there is a marriage recorded for Henry Whittington and Eliza Marshall 2nd Feb. 1883,and they are shown on the 1891 census with his occupation as Fishmonger, so I am confused as to where this child RICHARD VICTOR WHITTINGTON , fits into my family. Any help would be much appreciated. Respectfully Peter Whittington Western Australia
