Can I just make one small (but significant) correction to this? Munk's Roll (note spelling) is a collection of obituaries of deceased *Fellows*, (and Licentiates up until 1825) not Members. Fellowship was not, until quite recent times, a standard qualification for a practising physician. The Royal College of General Practitioners has a very useful guide to tracing medical ancestors at http://tinyurl.com/y8583j4.
