    3. Patrick, This has been discussed before. My suggestion was to use your genealogy programme to produce suitable reports in rich text format. Then, switch to a desk top publishing (DTP) programme to add  in the bells and whistles.  DTP is far more stable and versatile than a word processor for producing books with illustrations. Modern versions of both DTP and genealogy programmes are capable of producing books with chapters and indexes with a few button clicks, or using wizards.  However, you are presented with a limited range of formats and appearances.  All depends on your confidence in working with software, and your vision for the finished article.  You can either choose a template on offer, or branch out and produce something to your own format.  If you want to use your own format, then use a DTP programme. I hope this makes some sense.  I can contact you off list with some samples of what I have done in DTP, if you wish. With best wishes  Richard  Brown Bromley Kent U.K. ________________________________ From: patrick holland <lambeth@tadaust.org.au> To: eng-surrey@rootsweb.com Sent: Tuesday, 13 October, 2009 6:04:35 Subject: [SRY] Family History Book Hello, I am just about ready to put all my family tree data and photographs into a book format which future generations will be able to view and add to. Any advice from any of our  members as to how to go about it would be most welcome. Thank you. Patrick Holland.
