Hi Carole When you find the small pencil symbol against a name there are two main sources The first is from subscribers input, alterations/corrections, those you can go to the alteration tab and see the person who input it and click that to contact that person, it should be said that not all alterations are entered by a person actually researching that name, I have entered many on behalf of others where I have come across them but most you find I would suggest are from researchers interested in that entry so worth contacting either way The second source is from Ancestrys software, as I believe is the case with yours There is something wrong with the way the page your people are on is recorded (by the enumerator), there does not appear to be a head of household recorded for No 8 Peter Street, so the software is suggesting that Amelia may be the daughter of the head of household, which appears in the transcript as Wm CORK (incorrectly but not the fault of the transcriber but the enumerator) Both No 7 & No 8 are obviously sub let in rooms, your ETHERINGTONs are in one room within No 8 so James ETHERINGTON should be recorded as the head of household So in your case there is no one to contact as its software generated and is a suggestion not correction Looking at the marriages I don't see an obvious one for James and Amelia however they may never have married or have married somewhere which is not transcribed or has been lost There are nearly 100 Amelias baptised in Clerkenwell 1824 +/- 1 year, perhaps worth looking through those and trying those, some have two names and she may have married under a different forename , she may also have been a widow so it can be tricky to work that out :-( They do not appear to have had children either which doesn't help or have you found any? It is quite possible they split up and Amelia remarried under her maiden name or is buried under it None of which helps you find the marriage unfortunately Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) Hello Nivard Just read your email and would like to know how you can contact the person who has made a correction to transcriptions on ancesty. I have on the 1861 census living in Islington my Great-Great-Grandfather & his first wife James ETHERTON Amelia ETHERTON Someone has added an alternative surname for Amelia of Amelia CORK and I would like to know why. All I can see from looking at the image is that next door the Cork family is living. I am interested as I have never been able to find a marriage for James & Amelia nor her death before he married to his second wife in Lambeth 1870. Regards Carole Moon
