    3. Hi, I was wondering if any SKS could help me out with the meaning of the name and the family crest? I'm having trouble finding either. Tanya

    3. http://www.houseofnames.com/xq/asp.fc/qx/beecher-family-crest.htm seems to have info. Also see http://www.4crests.com/beecher-coat-of-arms.html Both are companies selling stuff, but if the info is accurate it might give you what you want. Michael Clifton

    3. Hi Tanya There is actually no such thing as a "family crest" except in the eyes of the gullible who pay for them and the unprincipled who prey on the gullible. Crest is the technical term for the "bit on the top" of a coat of arms (often a bird or animal of some kind). Coats of arms are granted to individuals, not families. An individual's legitimate male heirs can continue to use the arms granted to their ancestor. If you believe that a BEECHER was granted arms at some point in the past, you should contact the College of Arms at http://www.college-of-arms.gov.uk/, who should be able to provide you with more information. Hope this helps Caroline > -----Original Message----- > From: eng-surrey-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:eng-surrey- > bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Tanya Joy Cominotto > Sent: 05 October 2009 01:27 > To: Eng-Surrey@rootsweb.com > Subject: [SRY] Name Meaning BEECHER > > > Hi, I was wondering if any SKS could help me out with the meaning of > the > name and the family crest? > I'm having trouble finding either. > > Tanya > *************************************** > Send your List messages using **PLAIN TEXT** and always **TRIM AWAY** > superfluous old messages in replies. > > List Admin can be contacted at: Eng-Surrey-admin@rootsweb.com. > > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to ENG-SURREY- > request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in > the subject and the body of the message
