Hello Nivard   Thanks for your email, I think you must right that the alternative name for Amelia ETHERTON is to do with ancestry software as it has only appeared recently when they did some changes. Having never found the marriage of James & Amelia ETHERTON I got all excited when I saw the alternative name that someone knew something that I didn't!   As I hadn't managed to find a marriage on the BMD index I was hoping that I would find it on the new London parish records on ancestry. But no luck. They don't appear to have had any children.   Here are a few facts in case anyone can help find their marriage or what happened to Amelia.   1851 census living at 4 Francis Place Westminster James ETHERTON age 25 born c1826 St Lukes London  boot & shoe maker Amelia ETHERTON age 24 born c1827 Clerkenwell          boot & shoe binder   1861 census living at 8 St Peters Street Islington James ETHERTON age 37 born c1824 St Lukes London  boot maker Amelia ETHERTON age 32 born c1829 Clerkenwell            James Etherton married his second wife Elizabeth Lloyd (nee Faulkner) at St Mary's Lambeth, Surrey on 29 Oct 1870. and their children were Thomas William ETHERTON born 04 Jul 1867 Lambeth, Surrey Edward ETHERTON born 29 Dec 1869 Lambeth, Surrey Annie Elizabeth ETHERTON born 13 Nov 1871 Lambeth, Surrey   On their marriage certificate they were listed as widower & widow. Two of their children were born before they married and on both their birth certificates the mother is listed as Elizabeth ETHERTON formerly FAULKNER. It is quite possible they split up and Amelia remarried under her maiden name or is buried under it None of which helps you find the marriage unfortunately Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) Hello Nivard Just read your email and would like to know how you can contact the person who has made a correction to transcriptions on ancesty. I have on the 1861 census living in Islington my Great-Great-Grandfather & his first wife James ETHERTON Amelia ETHERTON Someone has added an alternative surname for Amelia of Amelia CORK and I would like to know why. All I can see from looking at the image is that next door the Cork family is living. I am interested as I have never been able to find a marriage for James & Amelia nor her death before he married to his second wife in Lambeth 1870.
