    1. [SRY] Wm. CLARK and Phoebe BARKER - Fish & Chips Shops. ( 1875 )
    2. >From Lloyd's Weekly Newspaper ( London, England ), Sunday, August 1, 1875; Issue 1706. "FRIED FISH SHOPS." - Two persons, William CLARK , living at Peckham, and Phoebe BARKER , of Oakley-street, Lambeth, were summoned to Lambeth police-court on Wednesday, by the Inland Revenue board for keeping open during prohibited hours without a refreshment-house licence. The police proved the sale of fish and potatoes, and the consumption of the articles in the shops. No accommodation was afforded by seats, and no knives or forks were allowed. Mr. LUSHINGTON imposed a penalty of 5 Pounds in each case, the lowest amount he could, and thought the Inland board might mitigate the amount.
