I have been able to trace the branch of the Savage family in Australia back to the Victorian death certificate of John Savage which shows the following; d 1918 Fitzroy, Australia, age 58 yrs Father; William Savage Mother; Mary Elizabeth Chillicott With that information I have been able to locate the probable marriage of William Savage & Mary Elizabeth Chillicott on Free BMD Sept Qtr 1850, Newington, 4/406. However at this point the British census information becomes rather uncertain as do the family trees on Ancestry.com Are parish records available which might further record William’s Savage family & Mary Elizabeth’s Chillicott family? Any help would be appreciated Alan
Hi Alan Indeed they are. Thanks to Ancestry's collaboration with the London Metropolitan Archives, the vast majority of London CofE parish registers are available online. William SAVAGE and Mary Elizabeth CHILLCOTT married at St Mary's Newington on 11 August 1850. Both were "of full age" (i.e. over 21) and gave their place of residence as Kennington Place. William was a Cooper and his father was James SAVAGE (deceased). Mary's father was James CHILLCOTT, a blacksmith. Witnesses were James SAVAGE and Sarah SAVAGE. Hope this helps Caroline > Are parish records available which might further record William’s > Savage family & Mary Elizabeth’s Chillicott family? > > Any help would be appreciated > > Alan
Hi Alan Now that Caroline has kindly found the marriage..... enter Savage into ancestry (no chrisitan name) and then down the bottom under parents put William Savage and Mary..... for the marriage of course you just put the fathers name...... It will then bring up children baptised for people with these names. There is probable more than one family though as it is a rather common name and Christian names.
