Hi listers, I am looking for information on my ggg grandfather and his family, William and his wife Mary (MUSSELWHITE ) Curtis b. 1792 Wilton, Wiltshire, who were married at St. Mary at lambeth Middlesex in 1825 and living in Surrey. They had 4 children; Selina Sarah b. 1826, John b. 1829, William Philip b.1831, Samuel b.1834 all baptized in Norwood, Surrey. According to the 1841 England Census they were all living in Norwood, Surrey and in 1851 census Mary, John, Philip & a William Finman were living in Croydon, Surrey. Where did Selina and William Curtis go? In the 1851 Census Mary, John, Philip were living in a place called BIGGIN FARM ROAD, Croydon does this place still exist? In the 1841 & 1851 England census they were there and then it seems that William & William Philip were in Madras, India, as William's death appears in1859 in Madras, india and William Philip is married to Mary Anne Williams in 1860 in Madras, India. Whatever happened for them to separate and I would like to know if there are any family of Sarah Selina, John & Samuel Curtis anywhere in England. There is a marriage of Selina Sarah Curtis Jun q 1849 quarter at St Geo Hanover Square - there are 6 possible husbands on the same page so I looked for a death and found it Sep q 1954 Croydon Selina Sarah CULLENS so I thought it likely this is yours. Searched the 1851 census and found them under the surname Cullens living in Brixton - age is right and she says she was born in Norwood. They had one child at the time Frances 8 month old.
