I live in New Addington, a 'new town' just up the road from the village of Addington, which is still very small, although there is now a nearby tram/bus interchange. There are houses, a grassed park and the grounds of Addington Palace which once housed the Royal School of Church Music, and before that it was the country palace of the Archbishops of Canterbury, some of which are buried in the churchyard. There is a police station and a pub which used to be called 'The Cricketers'. There is still a cricket club - in fact it was recently mentioned in the news because they brought on a (I think) Pakistani international player who had been banned from first class cricket for ball tampering or some such! I am sure the cricket club would be interested in the bat you mention and will pass your comments on. ADDINGTON. one of the oldest cricket bats in existence, circa 1743. It is like a hockey stick, curved.. has Addington got a Cricket Club my friends? It was mentioned about a small village named Addington, I said wont be so small these days, just out of Croydon. so any of the subscribers in the vicinity of Wellington, or are due to visit, even for the CUP. Rugby, please pay a visit to this wonderful museum and see this lovely ancient bat!
