Listers, I thought his little story worth telling - perhaps there is a moral in it somewhere. I have been searching for the daughter of Cyril Whittington BROWN and May NIGHTINGALE. Cyril & May were married in Reigate in 1907. Cyril inherited the family brick-making business in Earlswood. They had 2 children. Eric Cyril - born in Reigate in 1908, and Jessie L. Now, I thought Jessie's birth in Essex in 1913 was odd - out of county & for no real reason. Well, this afternoon, I carried out some searches in Ancestry and found Another Jessie - Jessie M BROWN with parents BROWN & NIGHTINGALE, born in Reigate in 1914. I checked out BROWN NIGHTINGALE marriages for the period 1905 - 1915 on FreeBMD. Guess what, My ancestors are there married in Reigate in 1907, and then another couple, Albert BROWN and Florence (sic) NIGHTINGALE married in 1907 in Billericay, Essex!! OK, I have started to look for the marriage of Jessie M BROWN, and found a possibility in Croydon. I have Jessie M BROWN = James G FREELAND in Croydon in the Jun ¼ of 1931. There are 4 children all born in Croydon between 1932 and 1939. Sheena M J in 1932, William N M in 1933, James G in 1936 and Donald J in 1939. No children were born between Sept 1936 and Apr 1939, which leads me to think that hubbie was off to serve his country, and may have returned home during the war, wounded. I libve close enough to Croydpn to visit the archive and check out the papers of that time for BMD announcements. So, I may have solved my brickwall - thanks to Ancestry and FreeBMD. I thought this little tale would say, "Please persevere with your research, think laterally, and look under every stone." Good Morning David, I have looked at your sample scan from the Surrey Map. It is excellent and I am looking forward to using the completed map. I have just one suggestion - Is it possible to create an index of the main towns - linked to the map by Hyperlinks? In the index, provide a list of farms and other notable features in alphabetical order? This would probably be a huge task - too time consuming. What prompted this idea is my interest in my ancestors' home near Reigate - it was a farm, now redeveloped as Council and Private homes. I won't sing like Bob Hope, "So, Thanks! for the CERONIOs..." but I will say thanks for the help. They are a fascination for me and married into my HICKS line. I have even written an online, six-part series on Stephen CERONIO and my searches for him and for his family. Sadly, it was at the tail-end of my searches that I realized he never got to leave Philadelphia! Just before he was due to go, he was caught in the horribly devastating Yellow Fever epidemic in the fall of 1793 in that "town." However, his descendants did travel overseas--namely two of his sons, and later his former wife (who apparently came to join her sons). Captain James CERONIO, apparently the oldest son, came to Feejee, New Zealand, Australia (where he met a woman and father two children by her), and India. He lived most of his life in India. Stephen's son Edward was also in India, but he doesn't seem to have lived more than about 25-30 years there before dying (this part is not yet certain). He may have married a Mary ?, who after his death moved to Middlesex County, England - that has yet to be proven, though the only CERONIO of the times did die there between July and September in 1857, having been born in a "British Colony." So I've mostly wrapped up that search and wished to express appreciation for all your assistance. Signing off, Vince Summers
