Hi List I am helping a friend who is having problems finding information on a William Henry BURKHARD, he was born in 1877 we think in Hale Surrey. On his marriage certificate his father is stated as Charles (soldier) deceased, his mother is given as Edith we think nee LANGLEY. I wondered if there was anyone on the Surrey list who may be able to help. We can't seem to find them on any census. The BURKHARD has been spelt BURCKHARDT. William married in Australia in 1910 to a Florence May HARDBOTTLE. Any help would be welcome. Many thanks Bob Owen Southport Lancashire.

Hi Lilly You will find Ireland a whole new ball game I would suggest subscribing to a list for Cork and or Ireland and asking there See http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/ Select mailing lists from the top bar menu Entering Cork finds several options, these look to be the most likely http://lists.rootsweb.ancestry.com/index/intl/IRL/CountyCork.html or http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/index/IRL-CORK/ You might try the same for Ireland for a more general list A good starting point for Irish research http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/irl/ Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) > Hello List, > This is rather off base - still genealogy though - but am hoping that a > kind soul on this list can point me in the right direction. Hi Lilly Basically, Northern Ireland is part of the UK, Eire (Southern Ireland) isn't - it's a separate country! If you google family history ireland, you will find lots of sites If you don't already belong, I would also recommend joining (free) www.rootschat.com which has lots of advice and some really helpful members Good luck with searching in Ireland! Hello List, This is rather off base - still genealogy though - but am hoping that a kind soul on this list can point me in the right direction. I'm trying to research a family line in County Cork, Ireland from about 1740 to 1820/1821 when they left and landed in Massachusetts. I live in the United States and subscribe to Ancestry, but they are only showing records for Northern Ireland. Nothing in County Cork. Does anyone on the list know when Birth/Marriage/Death records began in County Cork and where to look? Anyone have a clue why only Northern Ireland records of the era I'm researching are listed? Thank-you for your help, Lilly By the by, would be happy to do look-ups in the U.S. for those in need.

Hi, I have a George Milton b.1671 at Little Hadham, Surrey. I believe his wife was Sarah Sirridge they were mar. 1 Oct 1694. Stortford. According to a record I have found in England Births and Christenings 1538-1975 he had a Father with the same name GEORGE (source film #47764) I think born about 1645. I have looked for his record for weeks and am told that it might not exist as this was in the Cromwell era where allot of records disappeared or not recorded at all. Any help or advice will be appreciated. Thanks Barry ( from Canada)
We have just been sent the following link to a site, which is free, & easily searchable, for a number of Archive American Newspapers. We have found some reports of English events in those newspapers. _http://chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/_ (http://chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/) Hope this is useful to listers.

Yesterday, I was down at New Zealand's only Cricket Museum, and saw some pieces of history, one thing in special caught my eye. ADDINGTON. one of the oldest cricket bats in existence, circa 1743. It is like a hockey stick, curved.. has Addington got a Cricket Club my friends? It was mentioned about a small village named Addington, I said wont be so small these days, just out of Croydon. so any of the subscribers in the vicinity of Wellington, or are due to visit, even for the CUP. Rugby, please pay a visit to this wonderful museum and see this lovely ancient bat! Adele
