At some point after 1894, the family moved to Goveneur, New York, U.S.A. -grandfather: James Clifford HOCKEY, born 10 June 1894 in Rockport, Ontario, Canada, joined Canadian Armed Forces 4 December 1914, served as motorcycle dispatch rider in Eaton Machine Gun Battery, wounded on French-German frontline, sent to England for medical assistance, met and married DOROTHY ALICE STUNT of Wimbledon. After first child, daughter Iris, arrived, the family moved to Canada, landing in Vancouver, British Columbia, where daughter Marion was born. Homesteaded (farmed) in Darfield (formerly Darlington), B.C. Third daughter, Thelma, and only son, Nathan, were born nearby in Kamloops. James and Dorothy HOCKEY sold the farm and retired to Kelowna, B.C. in 1954. Both are buried there. - great great grandfather CHARLES THOMAS MANCHESTER went from his native England to the U.S., arriving first in Boston (supposedly to visit an aunt), married Elizabeth Brown(e) (born in Prince Edward Island, Canada) before settling in Leavenworth, Kansas. - great great grandmother Elizabeth Brown(e) MANCHESTER remarried, taking the children to live with her new husband in Boise, Idaho. - great grandmother MAUDE ETHELYNE MANCHESTER, was born in 1870 (?) in Leavenworth,Kansas, moved with her mother and siblings to Boise, Idaho where she met and married (?) FRANCIS KELLEY, an immigrant from county Cork Ireland. The couple moved often, finally settling in Louis Creek, British Columbia, north of Kamloops on land Maude purchased with inheritance money. Their 5 children were: Maude, Charles, Alice Elizabeth, Lawrence and Leslie (twins).
