Hi, I've hit the proverbial brick wall with my grandfather's immediate family - Albert and Sarah (Bevis) Annetts and their children, and am seeking any information, in particular verification of my grandfather's brothers and sisters. Some of them are listed on censuses, and some are not. My grandfather, Wilfred, came to Canada as a young man and never got a chance to return to England. Very little is known of his family. I would love to be able to meet and receive information from anyone related or interested in them. Albert Annetts was born in 1846 in Winterslow, Wiltshire, England son of Richard and Olive (Dawkins) Annetts. Richard was a laborer and farmer and he and Olive had nine children; George, Mary Ann, Richard, Albert, Thomas, Mary, Henry, Sarah and Emma. February 02, 1856, Alderbury R.D. Winterslow; d. January 22, 1943, Winterslow. Most of Richard's children were agricultural or/and coppice laborers, marrying and staying in the Wiltshire area. Albert Annetts married Sarah Ann Bevis, born in Winterbourne Earl, Wiltshire in 1851 to William and Ann (Parsons) Bevis. Albert was listed as a coppice laborer in the 1881 census and the family resided in Lower Winterslow W Nr Mogshade. In the early years the family was in the coal selling and delivery business. Children of Albert and Sarah are Albert William, Ellen, Bessie, Bertie James, Emma (Alma?), Fred, Kate and Wilfred - born May 2, 1889 in Winterslow, Wiltshire County. These children may or may not all be correct. My grandfather is Wilfred, who came to Canada in 1910, unknown if he travelled alone and on which ship he travelled. He married SARAH ANN BEVIS December 25, 1869 in Winterslow, daughter of WILLIAM BEVIS and ANN PARSONS. She was born March 1851 in Amesbury District, Winterbourne Earls, Wiltshire England. Uncle Bill Annetts, son of Wilfred (Albert & Sarah's youngest child), remembers meeting Fred Annetts while in England during WWll and was struck by how much Fred looked like his dad Wilfred as he approached him on his bike. He also met a sister of his father's, her house was named "Redvers", the first letter she received from Wilfred in Canada had been postmarked Redvers. He learned that two of Albert's daughters were in London and never married. The family in the early years was in the coal delivery and selling business. Is Emma Annetts (daughter of Albert) Alma?
