I'm researching the name GOULTHORP(E) in West Yorkshire. The family I'm interested in were all descended from a George Goulthorp, originally Goldthorp(e), who was born about 1808 in Dodworth, near Barnsley, but moved to the Wakefield area where he married Ann HARGREAVE in 1830. The family eventually settled in Stanley, to the north of Wakefield, in the 1850s, after which the spelling seems to change to the Goulthorp(e) version. While I'm interested in any Goulthorp(e)s who are part of this family, I'd also like to hear of any unconnected instances of the name, to get an idea of how common it is around the country. Happy New Year! Helen.
