I would like to find the parents of Jonathan Collins DAVIS b: 28 Mar 1779 England or Wales A bio written on him claimed he was from England and came to America as a "boy", worked as a tailor in Wilmington, Delaware (indentured?) for several years before coming to Carroll County, Maryland in 1810 and purchasing property, first two lots in Uniontown (had tailor shop) and later a large estate in Middleburg, not far from Uniontown. However, tales from his eldest son's descendants claim they heard he was from Wales. He died 2 Jan 1842 Carroll Co, Maryland. His wife was Maria (Mary) WINTER (German) (1792-1865) whom he married in Carroll Co, Maryland on 17 Apr 1812. There was a Jonathan Davis listed in 1801 on the ship/snow Panther that could be him.
