Hello, My grandfather is William Richard HAWKES b1916 d1974 West Haven, CT. He married ~1937 CT Helene POETZSCH b1917 dOct1975 Bloomfield, CT. William & Helene had one child, my mother. William's parents are Frederick George HAWKES b Kent, England (s/o Albert Henry b Kent, England & Clara (DeFRANCESCO) HAWKES of Newark, NJ) m. Margaret Ellen TRESCOTT of Thetford, VT (d/o Charles & Ellen (CLARK) TRESCOTT both of Thetford, VT) Frederick George is believed to have come to the US to marry just as his father had done before him. Family lore has it that Albert, the oldest son of the Earl of Kent, crossed the Atlantic then met and married Clara. They had one son in the US before returning to Kent where it is said 6 more children were born. One of these additional six was Frederick. Clara DeFrancesco is believed to be of Spanish descent. Charles Trescott is English & French. Ellen Clark is believed to be a descendant of the Mayflower Bowdon's. Any info on this HAWKES line would be greatly appreciated. Lois LaClair FL, USA formerly CT
