    3. Would someone be able to advise me on a problem I am facing. From a marriage certificate I have a birth date of approx 1901. I have looked on Free BMD from 1899 - 1903 and found 2 possible both born Dec quarter 1901. Is it possible to find out which one is most likely to be the one I am looking for without having to buy two birth certificates? I do have a fathers name but not a mother. Any help advice or suggestions appreciated. 3. Hi June If you are certain of the father's name you can put that on the application form, there is a space for you to put father/mother's name. Then the ONS will send you whichever certficate matches (if one does!). Only put information of which you are certain, though, as if it doesn't match entirely then they won't send either, but will refund part of your money. Marion in Wiltshire
