Hello, Is there site for the name of Goodson in England? My Great Uncle and Aunt and cousins lived in the Bracknell, Berkshire area Patricia, U.S.A.
Just posting my surname interests. I have nothing further back than 1871 . Thomas ROGERS son of Samuel Rogers, and Anne COU??FEILD Thomas married to Margaret WALPOLE 1890, Bradford ,Yorkshire, Having 5 children in England up to 1901, then moving to Canada, Saskatchewan or Ontario( not sure which one first.) 5 more children were born in Canada. Infant,Samuel, Francis Ellen(nellie), Dorothy(doris) Winnefred, John Edward 1901, In Canada, Ivy, Clara, Frank, Alice. John Edward ROGERS married Lizzie TOMKINS, born Bradford Yorkshire, 1901 to Arthur John TOMKINS,and Louisa BALLENGER, Louisa born 1871. These last four are all buried in a small cemetary in Ontario, and the third generation is there also. I'm not sure yet if these families knew each other in England, or if they met in Canada, but with both John and Lizzie being born within months of each other , in the same town, and then marrying, I wonder. I am told of "Gentleman Jim" TOMKINS helping people with his hospitality during wartimes, but I have no further on that. I am also given a "story" of Margaret WALPOLE being descended from Sir Robert Walpole. The authenicity of this "story" is unsure. If anyone else is researching this line, drop me a note. If anyone has some pointers for me, then send something along. Karen Moore, Ontario, Canada. tkmoore@sympatico.ca

Greetings....from Canada I would like to pick your brains: What would be the best way of getting this information (several thousand individual names) onto a home page in sortable spreadsheet format? I have no experience in this, but i am willing to learn. I would like the information to be usable as county- by county spreadsheets so that people could sort for (example) all Corkes in one town, or, by mother's name. I do not want to go to a one-name study genealogical society, as it costs money, and I want the information to be freely given. for a couple of years I have been collecting CORK/CORKEs of England by county, from 1500 to 1900. My resources are many and varied: IGI, free BMD, St. Cath's indices, any parish registers which have been placed on the internet etc, etc. I understand that there will have been an "oops!" factor in copying that which has been copied but I can assure you that I have been very careful, myself, to do an accurate job. All my work is on spreadsheet. the data headings are: surname (variants) source (incomplete) given names life event date code ( for sorting purposes) town, village, district county birth date (written form) christening date (written form) mother's name father's name marriage date (written form) spouse's name place of marriage name code ( for sorting purposes) notes: incl. death date if available, and place of death, burial addresses in some cases Is there anyone out there who could give me a push in the right direction? many thanks dianne Corke In Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Has anyone heard of the surname SATIN at all? I have not been able to find a trace of it anywhere so far in any of the free lookups. The person I knew of named SATIN was actually in Glamorgan, Wales but may not necessarily have come from there. Many thanks in advance if anyone can shed any light on this name. Lesley
