Just an observation on longevity. I have just completed recording all our KINGWELL family deaths from GRO index.Over 500 and many wonderful names, but if one were named Richard one could expect an average to reach well into 50+ years. This is based on 23 Richards. This study was a real eye opener to the high mortality in the olden days. SKS has offered to post all the death data to Free BMD. Of course if any one is working on this mainly Devon name I would love to hear from you. regards Ian MacPherson Victoria B.C. Hi list could anyone tell me how I'd find out about a trial held in 1832 at Stafford. Thanks Sarah in Australia
Sarah,I had a lot of help from the Australian National Maritime Museum NSW. Also www.records.nsw.gov.au You will need to give them as much information as you have, they will then give you details of the record references regarding your interests,I had a quick look for your surname, on the IGI the nearest to Stafford was the city of Birmingham,so was the person born elsewhere you are seeking? It will also be of help if you know what fleet they sailed in? My inquires for a similar person, was in 1787 at Stafford,it takes a little time to collate it all,but it all starts to fall into place,I now the age, parents, crime, victim, vessel, and even the cost of the loss to the victim, and witness, but as yet not discovered if related? Hope this may help, there is a book called Flynns second fleet, which included the details which I needed, depending which fleet you need it may also contain details of others? If I can be of any more help let me know? Alan Alan Chell

Looking for information of a Jeffery W. Harbourne in connection with a Jeffery Harbourne born approximately 1790's. Jeffery II married Elizabeth Mulhall in 1805 in Ireland. It is believed he (II) is the father of my great great grand uncles Jeffery, James (John), George and Thomas who immigrated to Bruce County, Canada in the mid 1800's. It is possible Jeffery (I) had more children, but that connection needs to be made. Reagrds, Vicky
I have census records of Bruce County from 1871. I am looking for information regarding a Sarah Hogan. The census lists has her staying with Thomas Harbourne. Her birth year is 1807, she was from Ireland, from the Church of England and listed as a widow. Her age would be about 64 years old at the time of the census, much older than Thomas whom was only 49. All family records I have, have a question mark next to her name. If someone has some info that would be wonderful. Have a great day, Regards, Vicky

In a message dated 1/17/02 4:48:00 PM Eastern Standard Time, mikebeale@supanet.com writes: > Message sent with Supanet E-mail > Joseph born 1900, Middlesex England Died 1961. I know nothing about his > father > or mother. Do you? Where are you from? > > Mike, Regarding Joseph BEALE. I was aware of Joseph's in my BEALE/BEAL line, so I needed to know if you were in England or in US as we have Middlesex Counties here. My line goes back to William BEALE (1664) in York, ME and that line has proven descent coming down to Canada, California & Ohio as well as other states in the US. We recently proved by DNA Surname descent, using Y-chromosome DNA tests that our recorded history is accurate. This test utilizes the Y-chromosome which is passed down the male line of descent, thus paralleling the recorded surname ancestry, e.g., g.g.great-grandfather, g. great-grandfather, great-grandfather, father to living individual bearing the same or similar surname. In our case the surname BEALE was changed in the fourth generation down from William to BEAL. There have been other versions like BALE, BEALS, etc., used in the records covering 11 or 12 generations. We have a "brick wall" in our ancestry as we have not been able to get our ancestry back across the Atlantic to England by either records or DNA testing. I am the project coordinator for The BEAL SURNAME DNA PROJECT and we are very interested in getting BEALE, BEAL descendants in England to participate in our project, if we can locate a living, male BEALE in England with the same DNA, and proven records going back to the 1600s in England we will have found the origin of our BEALE family in England and identified "cousins" in England. This technique has already been used in some other surnames and is one of the objectives in our project. In the project we have already, identified and proved the BEALL descent from Prince George's Co., MD, in the 1600s and are trying to break through a "brick wall" to the BEALLs or BELLs of Scotland. As we build our data base, we eventually should be able to offer an alternate means for individuals like yourself, who have limited knowledge of their ancestry to realize proven genealogy by scientific DNA testing If you or any of the BEALEs you come across in England or the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand or South Africa would like to participate, we would be very happy to include them in the project. The only drawback to participating is: the DNA Testing costs money and although we have been able to obtain a quantity discount, it is a very reasonable cost compared to doing family reconstruction on your own. We compared costs from Oxford in England and other laboratories in the US, before selecting: http://www.familytreedna.com Participants in our project have been very happy to have their genealogy research by conventional methods verified by genetics! We are at the cutting edge of a new genealogy tool for genealogy! I am a family genealogist, who voluntarily started this project and receives no remuneration for doing this project, to the contrary, I have invested my time and money to run this project for the next several years. I would like to find the parents of Jonathan Collins DAVIS b: 28 Mar 1779 England or Wales A bio written on him claimed he was from England and came to America as a "boy", worked as a tailor in Wilmington, Delaware (indentured?) for several years before coming to Carroll County, Maryland in 1810 and purchasing property, first two lots in Uniontown (had tailor shop) and later a large estate in Middleburg, not far from Uniontown. However, tales from his eldest son's descendants claim they heard he was from Wales. He died 2 Jan 1842 Carroll Co, Maryland. His wife was Maria (Mary) WINTER (German) (1792-1865) whom he married in Carroll Co, Maryland on 17 Apr 1812. Their children were - ..... 1 John Winter DAVIS 1813-1877 Harney, MD; w/ Mary Jane COVER (named after his maternal grandfather) ..... 2 Ann Maria DAVIS 1815-1891 Single ..... 3 Edward DAVIS 1817-1825 Died in Childhood ..... 4 Aaron DAVIS 1819-1909 - w/ Elizabeth Eve DEGRANGE ..... 5 Joseph DAVIS 1822-1872 Single ..... 6 William DAVIS 1825-1884 Single ..... 7 Jonathan Collins DAVIS, Jr. 1827-1857 Frederick, Maryland ..... 8 George H. DAVIS 1830-1868 Single ====== I have no idea where to start searching and have not found any record of him in Wilmington, Delaware either to help in determining when he came here exactly. There was a Jonathan Davis listed in 1801 on the ship/snow Panther that could be him.
