    1. [ENG-SURNAMES] Mieville
    2. Steve Calogero
    3. Hello, I'm searching for a man named Mieville (given name unknown). United States census records make it clear that he moved to the US in time to marry and father a son in 1876. I've had good luck tracking his son and wife, who apparently divorced him by 1900, but no luck with this Mieville. He probably left England around 1870, (+/- 5 yrs) and was probably born around 1850 (+/- 5 yrs). Any suggetions or look-ups for England would be greatly appreciated. He would be my gggrandfather. Steve C.

    2. Cindy Jungkunz
    3. I have to disagree with that!! I checked the website out and although I wasn't a member there was still access for non-members. It can put you in any part of England you want to go and when you submit the name you are searching for it provides you with names of people to contact who are also searching those names in that particular region. Thanks Malcolm for mentioning that site!!! I have already sent off messages to a number of people and am awaiting their replies. Cindy

All it seems to be is a site with many links to other sites where you can buy "Family Crests" and similar questionable family history stuff. When I tried to search the databases, it merely linked me to Ancestry.com's site, and when I searched there, it came up with very little of interest. Of course it gave me numerous invitations to Subscribe ($) to Ancestry.com. VERY DISAPPOINTING. Robert Skipp

    3. Great News for Genealogy Studies in The United Kingdom http://www.county-surnames.co.uk/index.mv The UK Surnames Web site is a Facility for exchanging family history data. The site currently has in excess of 33000 names listed from nearly 6000 contributors and is growing daily. Advantages of this Surnames Listing site over other Surname Listing Sites: 1. All updates are live - no waiting for the site administrator to get round to updating it. 2. Contributors are able to completely manage their own entries. 3. The Whole of the UK on one site - no need to manage entries on multiple lists, it is all in one place and easily grouped by county and region. 4. All email addresses are hidden. Spammers find it extremely difficult to "farm" email addresses from this site. Your email address is secure, and will not be given or sold to any other party. 5. Search for exact match over entire country, or partial match for individual counties. Thank you for taking the time to read this. Please note that part of the site facilities are only available to subscribers, however ALL The County Surname Lists are available and fully functional FREE OF Charge. The additional features available to subscribers are enhanced search and ease of use facilities, and the primary purpose is to help finance the site whilst still offering the full functionality of the site to remain free for all - This is the case now and will always remain so - IT IS NOT MY INTENTION TO EVER REMOVE THE FREE DATABASES either for contributors, or browsers. 3. Dear Listers, I am looking for a few Surnames in England. WHITFIELD around 1840 + Liverpool/Lancashire, This WHITFIELD family is said to originate from Warrington. HOWLETT from Cambridgeshire mid-late 1700 I have traced this family back from NSW Australia where three sons were sent for life on a charge of Larceny. ROOKE late 1700 early 1800 I am not too sure where about in England they came from but I am tracing them back from Tasmania Australia. BELL this is my brickwall I don't even seem to be able to find much about this family. What I have is Kathleen BELL sent to Australia as a British Home Child in 1934. She was born in West Bromwich 1922 daughter of Gladys BELL nee THOMPSON and George Thomas BELL (Coalminer H???) he deserted before Kathleen was born we have receive a couple of addresses where Gladys live after Kathleen had left one at Wednesbury Staffordshire, one for Friars Park Wednesbury for both theses addresses there is mention of relatives living there also. There was a warrant out for George BELL I assume for desertion. Any help at all would be gratefully received and very much appreciated. Good luck to all who are searching June Western Australia

    2. Jane Alois
    3. Hello List, I am looking for information on these families, all from Kent except Hutchinson. I have quite a bit on the Bourne family (Thank you, cousin) but have drawn a blank on the rest, particulary Denniss and Lilly who were, according to an obituary, in Ashford in the first 3/4 of the 1800s. The Hutchinson is David, b.c.1760. He married Margaret Taylor of Scotland. I believe two of his daughters may have been Mary and Isabella b. 1800 & 1802 at Belsa Dean House, Northampshire. Although, there is a possibility that I have confused 2 David Hutchinson families. Jane Alois
