Hi, my current brick wall is James BUTLER married to Eliza HORNEDGE, hopefully that is the correct spelling. They must have been married around 1850ish. I cannot find any info on James, who went to Tasmania in 1852 (out of Cork) as a Pensioner Guard with Eliza so I am now hunting her down to see if I can get to him through her. The HORNEDGE name doesn't seem to appear very often, so she could be a dead end as well rgds phil b..... sunny qld.....

I have been searching for any records of a Reginald CLEMSON for a long time now to no avail. I know he is (was?) my grandfather (my mother's father). He and my grandmother never married and therefore I cannot access his military records. I also can find no record of his birth, death, or anything else. The closest I have come is an entry at ancestry.com which list a Reginald Clemson being born to an Arthur Clemson and Doris Wyke. There is no info. except his name. I have searched on this info. as well and had no luck. I was hoping someone would take pity on me and give me a hand. I am in the US so that adds to my frustrations. Here is the info. I have: REGINALD CLEMSON Born: between 1915-1920 Member of the King's Shropshire Light Infantry (already tried the museums and office) during WWII military # 4034555 Was a military band leader who played at King's Hall in Herne Bay during the 1940-41 holiday season (tried that too, no records there) Was told by my grandmother (who doesn't remember much) that he was from the Birmingham area (staffordshire/shropshire) Lived in Kent for a while Don't know if he is still living or dead Tried professional services from Birmingham Library and was pretty much ignored and never charged for service (didn't get any info. either, they didn't seem to interested in helping). Well, that's my story, thanks so much in advance to anyone who tries to give me a lead in the right direction as to what to do next. Laura

Hi, I remember reading a book a few months ago about the historical patterns people used to name their children (in the 1800's and prior). It was something like the oldest son's first name was the father's first name and his middle name was his mother's maiden name and the oldest daughter took the mother's first name and her middle name was her grandmother's first name (or something like this)...etc. Would anyone have any information on this. I am trying to figure out what the possible parents are of some of my great grandparents and I want to see if their children's names can help me solve the mystery. Thanks... Hello Everyone, I'm helping a friend with his English BARNARD roots. Mary and Samuel are said to have had a son, Samuel, born in England (Gloucester?) on September 14, 1817. Son Samuel came alone to Canada as a young boy. He may have been a twin. It would be great to hear from anyone with a possible connection. Thank you!! Joan Nova Scotia, Canada
